Summer's here

An extremely basic summer outfit, put together keeping in mind my need to express my style, yet not too loud or over the top to grab unnecessary eyeballs. Black basic jeans, with a lovely green top picked up from Delhi streets last november, prepped up with gold accessories and a popping shade of orange on the lips and nails.

My idea of a dream summer outfit would be a bikini top and a pair of super mini shorts with plenty of bohemian accessories. But lets face it-we live in India, who are we kidding.
Also, as the crime rates against women in this city are rising faster than the temperature levels, there's a lot of pressure from all ends to dress "appropriately" while stepping out.
On such occasions, stick to the basics and glam up the look with statement accessories or bright, fun lipstick shades, or work a way around fitting both in, as I've tried accomplishing here.

Hope everyone's having a pleasant summer. :)

Yellow

Summer's here, spread out harsh and loud, before I could even let the winter months sink in completely. Even though Mumbai winter doesn't really sway over to an extreme side, the cool mornings spent wrapped under the quilt, and hot chai on a chilly evening, I miss.

The perfect solution to my nostalgia was delivered when my family planned a trip to the Himalayas around the end of last month. We visited some gorgeous, breathtaking places and travelled along the state, exploring the quaint obscure valleys and little-known towns.

I recently added to my collection a canon 50 mm, which gave me some wonderful, bokeh-filled images of the trip. I've edited quite a few of them, and for a change am satisfied with the final results; will dedicate the next post to these particular bunch of images.

Talking about the current post, these pictures were clicked back in January, and since I've just been occupied with several other stuff(+lazy), it's being put up only now. Also, truth be told, at times I lack the motivation and drive to blog on a regular basis. So I choose to lie back, wait till I'm hit with some jolt of inspiration(or at least a teeny current of it).
Anyway, coming back to this, it's a typical summer outfit, comprising of a floral Forever New skirt and a yellow top thrifted from Sarojini Market(Delhi), accessorized it up with some pale gold, studded jewelry.

Valentine's Day

I dedicate this post to all my lovely readers, and more specifically to all those who keep complaining I never put up "happy, bubbly" pictures!

I was initially quite hesitant about the whole attire, as the colours when put together popped out too much and almost hurt the eye. But then again, Valentine's day is a day you can afford to go loud with the red and pink hues and all will be forgiven.

The dress has been picked up from a quaint little local store, teamed it up with a red Zara cardigan, a neckpiece from Hill road Bandra, and golden Zara loafers.
Also, a BIG hug to my photographer, who cancelled all his V Day plans to do the shoot with me. Ajay!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Lace on Lace

Top, skirt: Zara; Stockings: Forever New; Neckpiece: Accessorize, Rings: Blur accessories, Forever New; On my lips: Baby lips by Maybelline

I've been wanting to do an indoor shoot since a very long time now, which finally fell into place the last time Syddharth came over for a shoot. It was a gorgeous winter afternoon, with beautiful sunlight pouring in through the windows. I wore everything lace- the top, skirt and stockings, and kept the colours minimalistic, opting only for off-white and black. For accessorising I used simple, feminine pieces comprising of pale gold accessories, pearls and bracelets, which wouldn't overshadow the attire. We kept the mood dreamy and delicate to blend in with lace laden faint feel of the attire.

Not even a month is over since this year started and it's already been one of the best and most eventful years for me.
I packed my bags and left for Pune to do a short course as soon as the year kickstarted, and returned just about four days back, which delayed my first post of 2013 year by a good few weeks, but now that I'm back here, will try posting more regularly. :)

Hello, 2013

As a year ends and another one begins, we all tend to get reminiscent. As I look forward to another eventful year, I leafed through my posts of 2012 and put together a series of pictures from among all of them. (My personal favourites being Taj, Thistle & Weeds and Bohemia)
We managed to experiment with different themes, looks, styles and locations, and today I want to say a big THANK YOU to all the readers, and more importantly Ajay and Syd, who've given me some amazing photographs and visual content. We've always strived to create art in the form of pictures, even if it means waiting for almost a whole month to shoot, so as to not do something monotonous and try go beyond what we've already done.

I have a mental list of plenty of interesting themed shoots and projects in mind, and hopefully if everything falls into place, 2013 shall be a very colourful year.

And yes, Happy New Year to all you lovely people! Have an amazing year ahead. :)

Malavika.
